Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques de Cargèse

The school and workshop will take place at the Institut d'Etudes Scientifiques of Cargèse in Corsica (http://www.iesc.univ-corse.fr/index.php?id=1&L=0). The premises of the Institute are spread across three groups of buildings. In the central buildings are located the administrative structures, the restaurant, the music room and a first amphitheatre. Around the second amphitheater are located several offices a meeting room for up to 35 people and the IT room. A third building constructed in 2011 according to the most modern energy saving criteria is exclusively dedicated to housing. A dining room, public rest rooms and showers are also available there. The villa Menasina is located about 500 meters from the central buildings. It is the historic site, where the first meetings were held in the sixties.

The Institute has 2 auditorium  with a capacity of 80 and 98 seats, they are equipped with a projector and a laptop computer. Two additional meeting rooms (capacity 35 and 15 people respectively) are equipped with boards and beamers. Additional equipment for projection is available.

Two offices equipped with a computer and a printer-copier are available for organizers. A dozen computers, freely available for participants, are located in the IT room. Wireless coverage is present throughout the site.

For poster sessions, the Institute provides 25 panels (135 cm x 90 cm) and the equipment necessary for poster preparation and exhibition. The poster sessions are held on the outdoor patio at the amphitheater.

Accommodation

The participants will be housed in shared bedrooms (two twin beds) at the institute and in the village nearby.

A limited number of single bedrooms are available (ask during the pre-registration).

Rooms are not included in the registration fees and will have to be paid directly to the centre on arrival.

Meals

Breakfast, coffee breaks and lunches will be provided by the Institute to all participants and are included in the registration.

Except a BBQ the first week and a banquet the second week, evening meals are not included in the registration fees. They can be taken in restaurants in the village, or prepared in the shared apartments.

Transportation

The summer school will take place at the CNRS center in Cargèse (www.iesc.univ-corse.fr), in Corsica. The Institute is located by the sea, at 20 minutes walk from the village (5 minutes by car). Additional information on the village of Cargèse and the Institute can be found at cargese.univ-corse.fr.

In most cases, the easiest way to come to Cargèse is to fly to Ajaccio. The cheapest tickets are usually obtained by buying a round trip ticket from your departing city to Ajaccio. It is also possible to come by boat either from France (Corsica Linea, La méridionale and Corsica Ferries) or from Italy (Corsica Ferries).

There will be shuttles organized between the Ajaccio Airport and the Cargèse Center at the start of the school (Monday July 8 in the afternoon) and at the end of the workshop (saturday July 20 in the morning) .
